Now I dunno about you, but I'm a complete sucker for a good tune here and there (#grannylingo). A good song, album or cover can quite 360 my mood in about 5 minutes or less. Crazy. So having that ideal playlist down is always a must have. I've always been a sucker for a good ole bit of Justin Timberlake, Ne-Yo and Kendrick Lemar but recently I've really been digging a bit of a variation of music. Since caving into Spotify Premium and ditching the good ole trusty iTunes option, I've really been experimenting and getting the most out of my music. So here are my recent picks...
When We Get By - D'Angelo: If you're into the more chilled but slightly justifiably dance-y type tunes that will have you feeling as mellow as yellow but swaying with a cheeky sing along D'Angelo has it covered. Whack on a bit of Brown Sugar and Untitled too, they're awesome.
The Storm - Harry Seaton: A sucker for a good acoustic, slightly indie avec a guitar, Harry definitely ticks all the boxes. It quite literally was love at first note when I discovered Harry's Youtube Channel especially his cover of Shaggy - It Wasn't Me, and well let's just not mention the song about his dad which he recently uploaded, stunning. Winner. Now Mr Seaton is onto bigger things, releasing his own EPs and getting verified on Facebook. Let's just say, he's one to watch and definitely listen to. If you like his music, drop him a tweet because he's a really nice guy too!
Will 2K - Will Smith: Now what would a playlist post be without a classic Will Smith number added in. It's awesome, so bad it's good and literally has you dancing and singing along on repeat for a good 20 minutes before you realise how silly you probably look then, end up laughing and the rest is history. Ultimate pick me up song. Love.
Rock Your Body - Justin Timberlake: Being a complete Justin Timberlake fan girl, of course as expected I'm going to add his number one tune into the mix. A dancing, sing along, pick me up song that will get all generations going. Need I say anymore? Definitely seeing him live for the third time is something I'd get on, anyone in?
C'Mon Give It Up - Johnick: Right, in my household the ultimate dance / house tunes Dj / Mixer / producer is Kenny Dope. There's nothing quite like a good House or Dance music pick me up... let's be honest. This will have you bouncing off the walls, wanting to take a trip to town and purchase a good ole bottle of white and possibly a couple of cans of pimms and a stash of ice and get your groove on because I freaking love Kenny. The album they've put together is Kenny Dope Presents, and this is definitely the star of the show. Get on it for the weekend, I'm with ya!
Great Escape - Mike Dignam: Ever watched Tanya Burr or Zoella's or Niomi Smart's videos and thought wow... I love that song that so cute. Yeah, well this one featured on Tanya's Get Ready With Me a while back and I just love it. It's one of them songs that so chilled, so emosh but makes you so happy. Whenever I listen to this, I always just think of everything that's going on and have a proper reflection on whats been happening. You'll see what I mean!
Boiling - Disclosure: Let's end on a high note with this classic. There's nothing quite like a bit of disclosure to have you tryna shuffle and dance like p-diddy... right? This is well known, so popular and so loved, and let me tell ya... rightly so. It's awesome. Even when you're trying to type at 138275832753 miles per hour to get that to do list done and dusted, this is one for you. Wooooo #teamdisclosure
So as you can tell, I love my fair share of house music, R&B / Soul and of course some acoustic and uber chill music too. I've linked some of my playlists below, so be sure to check them out. Happy Friday!
